The Christian Education Department serves
as the primary teaching arm of the local church. Its overall objectives are: (1) Evangelism; (2) Christian education; and (3) Spiritual maturity.

  • Cultivate a love for the study of the Bible
  • Promote Christian Unity
  • Inspire spiritual reproduction
  • Equip believers for Christian service

The department seeks to fulfill this vision and reach its goals through weekly Sunday School classes for all ages, mid-week Bible studies, and Vacation Bible School.

Sunday School: "From the Cradle to the Grave"

Graduated Christian Education classes are held each Sunday morning, 9:45 - 11:00 a.m. Teachers include ordained ministers as well as lay teachers who have completed the church's in-house Christian Education training program.

The School uses the One Accord curriculum, a new line of Christian Education literature written from a Pentecostal perspective. Bible-based and doctrinally sound, One Accord is produced and published by the White Wing Publishing House, which is owned and operated by Church of God of Prophecy, Cleveland, Tenn.

In addition to regular curriculum-based lessons, the Sunday School also offers elective courses dealing with topics such as Mental Health & Wellness, Parenting, Spiritual Growth, and Marriage Enrichment. It also conducts ongoing staff development classes and training sessions for current and prospective staff.

Mid-Week Bible Study
Meeting each Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m., this mid-week service is an in-depth study of the scriptures. Courses consist of topical or character studies, theological subjects, major divisions or entire books of the Bible. Classes are taught by the ministerial staff of the church.
Prison Ministry

"Heeding the city's call to churches for assistance in addressing recidivism among juvenile offenders, the Sunday School Department, along with the 10 Point Coalition began to minister to male youth held in the City's Harvard Street detention center.  Since 2000, a team of dedicated Christian Education staff, along with local church ministers have been ministering to the young men held at the facility.  Countless have come to know the Lord as their personal Saviour."
Scholarship Fund

The Christian Education Department is the underwriter of The Cecelia Elizabeth Weathersby Scholarship Fund. Founded in 1998, the Fund provides scholarships to high school graduates in their pursuit of a college education. Scholarships are awarded annually at its annual banquet and range from $500.00 to $1,000.00 per recipient.
